Fashion Month started with New York Fashion Week on September 6th. It was a great start for the following hectic weeks, and it certainly didn’t fail to amaze us. KHAITE SPRING/SUMMER 2020
With many prints and transparency, the creative director Catharine Holstein has brought excitement to NYFW. The public could had found out a little about what the show would look like just by the set, a mountainous pile of antique wooden chairs. The models were strung between Swarovski and pearl headpieces.
To bring elegance and drama to the collection, the overlapping tulle dresses were seen on the runway with neutral colors, bringing in a sense of antiquity.
AREA SPRING/SUMMER 2020
Shiny metal pieces marked the fashion show for designers Beckett Fogg and Piotrek Panszczyk. All the looks contained colorful metal pieces and some in the form of flowers made with crystals.The suits, cropped blazer and miniskirt suits made for New York woman’s stood side by side with the cage dresses, making the parade not lose femininity.

The Project Runway winner brought pop culture to the runway inspired by Frida Kahlo, Lady Gaga and Kate Moss. Even with black looks, it was possible to see a lot of color in the collection, with a color palette of sparkly aqua, sage, green, mint and fuchsia.

Strangeness, color and oversized are what defines this collection.
Always bringing drama to the clothes, the vibrant colors bring joy and modernity in his second ever NYFW fashion show. All seven looks are made of hundreds of meters of ruffled Japanese polyester organza and utilize only one zíper.

Once again Ralph Lauren brings elegance and sophistication to the runway. With traditional black suits and dresses, colors have been integrated into the collection to break the ordinary. Colorful, suede and shiny blazers brought modernity along with the fit and shiny dresses, but the trademark of the brand was not left out, the women’s suits throughout the show.

Presenting for the first time a collection on NYFW, the designer drew attention for the strangeness of his looks. Collection contains 35 looks with bold colors of green, pink, blue, orange and red were presented, as well as monochromatic looks and striped and square prints. In some looks Swarovski crystals were used to bring a subtle shine to the collection.

After a year and a half out of fashion week, the designer returns with a collection that oozes romance. The suits took second place because what caught the eye were the top with oversized trousers and the floral dresses perfectly fitted to the model’s body. The touch of romance came with the almost transparent feathers and tulle dresses.

The second collaborative collection with actress Zendaya brought a 70’s feel to NYFW at the Apollo Theater in Harlem. With a full casting of diversity, the fashions of the 70’s and 80’s were modernized with leisure suit, wide-legs pants and, of course, with the striking polka dot prints that are seen in all the films that portray the era.

Summer may be over, but if you want to prepare for the next one just pay attention to this collection. Nicky Zimmermann makes you wanna go to the beach with vintage surf poster print, which landed on beautiful maxi skirts, crop tops, and a covetable strapless dress. To finish the makeup almost nothing of the models and fresh hair, complete the beach theme of the runway.

The designer took inspiration from Sister Rosetta Tharpe, a queer Black female artist for this new collection. The runway was covered with prints, silk tunics, mix of sporty-casual garments, bolero jackets track suits, two-piece sets, leggings, bike shorts and it was possible to see vibrant colors in the midst of black and white looks.

For this new collection, the designer abused the woman’s femininity and grace. The models practically floated with the flowing fabrics, showing the lightness of each looks. The delicate theme had also been seen in the chiffon dresses with delicate prints, tomboy-ish khakis, army jackets and bitsy tanks with beaded embellishment that evoked corset covers. This air of lightness was broken with the platform sandals and quirky socks, showing that a woman can be sweet but aggressive and confident at the same time.

Bringing beauty to an abandoned subway station, Tom Ford showed his rock and roll side to this collection with spiked hair and smokey eye make-up. Vibrant clothes in orange, pink, blue and brown colors contrasted with the monochrome looks in black and white. To close in style, were betting on neon-colored plastic tops on models and also animal print blazers on men’s models.

After two years out of fashion week, Vera Wang returns to NYFW. Unlike her bridal dresses, the spring/summer collection has a dark look to it. Was included hip-grazing chainmail slips featuring garter belts, sheer bra tops worn loose and unfastened over structured pieces, ruffled bustles, short shorts, pelmet minis and pieces of lingerie that were used as accessories.

It was possible to feel the summer with fruit cocktails and palm trees around the runway. Running away from the traditional style of this season, this was provocative, bizarre, underground, homespun and gender-nonconforming. With men in mini dresses or cargo pants slung way low, It was possible to see a lot of animal and floral prints, but with the brand’s own style. Some models had the body. fully painted with biodegradable glitter made of algae and seaweed.
OSCAR DE LA RENTA SPRING/SUMMER 2020
With a burst of color, Oscar de La Renta brought the romance to New York. We were transported to the Caribbean with a set full of palm trees. The dresses so well known by the brand, walked side by side with candy-colored blazers to flowing linen pants, chiffon minidress or a lace top and fabrics that looked more like straws.

With a collection full of prints, the brand presented sophistication and elegance on the runway. Even with giant flower prints on the skirts and dresses accompanied by a belt and polka dot dresses placed on floating tulle, what attracted the public’s attention were the checkered mini-suits that resembled a piquinique towel.
PROENZA SCHOULER SPRING/SUMMER 2020
The brand brought an 80’s touch to the runway but without the vibrant colors known for the decade, neutral colors were used instead. Structured suits are perfect for business women who don’t want to give up fashion even in the office. This was all accompanied by big piles of ruching, marigold and printed midi dresses, oversized belt detailing, trench coats and sneakers.

With a fun and vibrant fashion show, Marc Jacobs ends NYFW. The collection brings a touch of nostalgia with the 60’s style hats, 70s disco-glam golden dress, explosions of flowers everywhere and feathers, plaid suits, leather jackets cool graphic tees, ruffles, hats, satin pants and chic tweed jackets.
